Today is the official launch of Android 13. This new version of the operating system is, for the moment, only available for certain Google Pixel. However, in newer ones, this could be a major downside.
And it is that, among the novelties of this Android 13, the inability to revert to a previous version on the latest Google mobiles. Therefore, upgrading one without thinking about it could be problematic.
A Google Pixel 6 with Android 13 will not be able to downgrade to Android 12
Due to a new bootloader version, the Google Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro Yes Pixel 6a They will not be able to revert to Android 12 if Android 13 is installed. The same does not happen with other terminals of previous generations and it is not known if it will also happen with mobile phones from other manufacturers.
This was discovered by a warning message given by Google itself when we are going to upload Android 13 image. There you can read the following (translated):
“The Android 13 update for Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, and Pixel 6a contains a bootloader update that increases version anti-rollback. After flashing Android 13 on these devices, you will not be able to not flash old android complications. 12”.
In this way, if you are not sure about the updateyou better think about it. While it’s true that Android 13 is already out of beta and is a stable release, it might not be free from Bugs and, if a really annoying one pops up, you’ll be stuck with it until Google releases a new update that fixes it.
The fact that this restriction is only present on Pixels with google tensor makes us anticipate that it is related to this chip. However, it’s not something newsince other manufacturers such as Xiaomi have implemented it in devices such as the Redmi Note 5, which did not allow lowering MIUI 10 after the update.
So, if you are a user of one of these mobiles and cannot wait, we advise you to think twice before installing. Anyway, already with Android 13 between us, monthly updates will be released which fix any issues that appear, as well as other new features in this version that have not yet been implemented.
