This little-known Waze feature will have you and your mates cracking up

There are several differences between Google Maps and Waze, but there is one feature in particular that has me hooked. Thanks to this feature, I’ve been using Waze lately even for short trips that I know by heart and for which I don’t really need a GPS app.

I refer to ability to record voice prompts yourself. This is a function that, a priori, is designed to give the application a personal touch compared to the default voices that come. However, in a troll like me, it is used to make anyone who gets into the car laugh.

Steps to save your own routes in Waze

Of all Waze’s tricks, the ability to record voice prompts is one of the coolest. Although, yes, it requires record each indication one by one. To do it yourself, just follow these steps:

  1. Open the app and tap My Waze.
  2. Click on settings (top left).
  3. Come into sound and voice then in Waze’s voice.
  4. Click on Add voice.
  5. Go there by clicking on each of the indications, then clicking on the microphone icon, announcing the voice indication yourself and then clicking on to safeguard.
  6. Once all the instructions have been recorded, click on Do (You don’t need to register absolutely all of them).

Once you’ve saved your recordings and returned to the voices menu, you’ll need to choose the ones you saved as Waze voices. In this way, you will be able to listen to your own recordings from the moment you start a route. You can edit recordings, delete them, or switch to a system default voice at any time.

We can say as a negative point that you will not be able to save the name of each street. This is obvious given how tedious it would be. Therefore, it is sometimes odd that the directions are somewhat halfway through not speaking street names or sounding them with one of the system voices.

if you want too give it a fun twist With this feature, you can do like me and record the prompts with fun voices, singing (and out of tune) or even changing what the prompt says to any other phrase. Although it is careful, because in the end, we must not forget that the purpose of this application is to serve as a GPS guide.
